Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited has begun automatic power disconnections for smart meter users who fail to pay bills within 45 days across Maharashtra. In Pune alone, 8,000 consumers were disconnected in five days. Bills must be paid within 21 days, followed by a 15-day notice. Power is restored automatically after payment.
