In 2017, Juliana Ossa, age 10, was attacked by a 9-foot alligator while swimming in Florida. The gator clamped onto her leg and attempted to drag her underwater. Juliana pried its jaws open and stuck her fingers into its nostrils, cutting off airflow — forcing it to release her. She later said she learned the survival tip during a visit to Gatorland.
