My favourite species. The tiger quoll, also known as the spot-tailed quoll or native cat. Although not a cat at all, these feisty ‘Ferraris’ of the marsupial world are fearsome pouched carnivores and are close cousins to the extinct (thought to be…I still believe) Tasmanian tiger. Endangered on mainland Australia, due to loss of habitat, disease, 1080 poisoning, climate change and competition and predation from foxes and cats. We hope to breed these precious beasties in 2025. Fingers crossed! ❤️#

I could watch this guy all day. Tigger our Tiger Quoll is going to (safely) test the species-specific Felixer cat trap to make sure it knows the difference between cats and Tiger Quolls. To hear more about the felixer, check out the interview we recently did with John Read The Pragmatic Ecologist on the Aussie Wildlife Show podcast: https://aussiewildlifeshow.podbean.com/e/dr-john-read-wildlife-ecologist/ | Animals Anonymous

🐯 Meet the Tiger Quoll — Australia’s secret spotted predator. With its sharp claws, powerful jaws, and stealthy moves, this marsupial hunts everything from insects to birds. Despite its fierce skills, it’s sadly endangered due to habitat loss. Would you have guessed this cutie is actually a top carnivore? 👀 #TigerQuoll #QuollLove #AustralianWildlife #MarsupialMonday #WildlifeConservation #NativeAustralianAnimals | Discvr Blog

Wow! A rare Spot-tail Tiger Quoll has been sighted in forest on Mt Baw Baw. Citizen scientists’ remote cameras recorded this scarcely seen native animal in forests proposed for protection in the Great Forest National Park. Quolls require a huge home range of 5,000 hectares to forage for food, to den and to breed in. They can traverse more than six kilometres in one night! Sadly, less than two kilometres from where the remote cameras recorded the quoll, VicForests has been destroying the species'

Have you been lucky to spot a spotted-tailed quoll in the wild? And in daylight hours? Spotted-tail quolls are largely solitary and nocturnal, although the species does sometimes forage and bask during daylight hours. Staff on duty near Strathgordon recently were lucky to find this little spotted-tailed quoll happily sauntering about across the road when they rounded up a bend. It was about mid-morning. Luckily for the quoll, they were going at a moderate speed which allowed them to stop and wat

The tiger quoll may look like a friendly cartoon character but he’s a baby-faced assassin, prowling the jungle for prey. But once they've made a kill, they have to be careful: Tasmanian devils have been known to step in and scare them away from their kill. Endangered in Victoria. Tiger quolls are one of my favourite native animals. These beautiful animals are the second largest extant carnivorous marsupial (second to the Tasmanian devil). Excitingly, it’s the start of quoll breeding season, we usually have breeding behaviour when there is a full moon. Our girls are getting cranky, and starting to show ‘denning’ behaviour. Female quolls raise their young by themselves, with no interaction from the male. Fingers crossed 🤞 #quolls #tigercat #endange

Animals of Tasmania on Instagram: "Tiger Quolls have cute pink nose, white spots all over their bodies (including their tails) and a tenacious personality. Kilogram for kilogram, the Tiger Quoll has the second strongest bite of any predatory mammal in the world, beaten only by Australia’s Tasmanian Devil. #tasmania #wildlife #cuteanimals #animallovers #australia"
