Acting Commander Wayne Cheesman from Victoria Police has shown the media a stone that was allegedly thrown at officers today in Melbourne. Two members of the force were hospitalised amid clashes between the ‘March for Australia’ anti-immigration rally, and counter protesters. 22 police members have been deployed to Kerang to assist with flood efforts. Fourteen Public Order Response Team (PORT) officers and two members from North West Metro Region were picked up from Essendon this morning, following six members who headed north by road last night. Police will assist the community where needed in Kerang, which is near the Murray River, as they prepare to be significantly impacted by rising waters.
