What is Petalite? Petalite is a relatively uncommon lithium-rich silicate mineral that sits firmly in the world of pegmatites. Chemically, it is a lithium aluminium silicate (LiAlSi₄O₁₀) and forms in the monoclinic crystal system. Most petalite is colourless to white, grey or very pale pink, and can range from opaque through to beautifully transparent when conditions are right.
