Phil Lynott was the quintessential 70s hard rock, guitar-slinger...only in his case it was a bass guitar. He achieved massive success with Thin Lizzy before going solo in the 80s and recording with other artists. Sadly drugs and alcohol came to dominate Lynott's life and he collapsed at home on Christmas Day 1985. He was hospitalised suffering from septicaemia but his condition worsened and he died on 4 January 1986 at the age of just 36. RIP | Marking Time
