BLM designates area to protect the endangered Pacific Northwest Sasquatch 🌲🦍👣 The BLM is designating a new Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) to protect the Pacific Northwest Sasquatch (Gigantopithecus canadensis) following an extensive land use planning process. The species was long believed to be extinct. However, after several Sasquatch were positively identified on BLM public lands in eastern Oregon and southern Washington, the BLM launched a planning process that identified AC
