Explaining a Movie on Instagram: "Orson Welles began filming The Other Side of the Wind in 1970, but the film remained unfinished for decades after his death due to legal disputes over ownership and rights. Using Welles’ original notes, workprints, and editing plans, the film was finally completed and released in 2018, nearly half a century after production began."

Six years of shooting. Fifteen more trying to edit. Rights disputes, empty accounts, and perfectionism kept The Other Side of the Wind perpetually unfinished. Welles died in 1985 without ever seeing it complete. Netflix assembled the final cut thirty-three years later. A team of editors worked from his notes to figure out what he intended. 122 minutes from decades of accumulated material. #orsonwelles #indiefilm #filmmaker #documentary #filmproduction #postproduction #netflix #filmmaking #cinema

cinema lore on Instagram: "Orson Welles'final film, The Other Side of the Wind, is the wildest story in cinema. 🎬 He started shooting in 1970, but it was trapped in legal hell for decades after his death. It became a legendary "unfinished" film... until Netflix finally completed it in 2018 based on his notes. This chaotic, brilliant masterpiece is a deeply personal and satirical look at the end of Old Hollywood. A true cinematic time capsule and Welles' last statement. #orsonwelles #theothersid
