Benzodiazepines like Valium or Xanax are safe to use with Anipryl, but there is some concern that sedatives like these have the potential to increase confusion and make CCD worse.

Trazodone does work when used on an as-needed basis for situational anxieties, although, as with any anxiety medication, it doesn't work for all dogs.

Xanax is a fast-acting drug and is not usually effective for generalized anxiety disorders like SA. Others have mentioned valium and trazadone, both of which may be more useful for thunder and fireworks.

On the plus side, it does have a tranquilizer effect and can lessen anxiousness although usually prescribed for nerve pain which it can work well for.
