Apple announced Liquid Glass on Monday for all of its devices at WWDC 2025. Perhaps the most noticeable thing about it is that app icons, tab bars, and even the text magnifier you’ll see when you hover over words feel, well, liquid-y and glassy.
At Apple’s WWDC 2025, most of the design buzz centered around a new UI material called “Liquid Glass.” It’s shiny, it refracts light, it’s very Apple. Apple’s VP of Human Interface, Alan Dye, called it the company’s “broadest design update ever,” and it’s definitely a very different look and feel across all of Apple’s devices.
At WWDC 2025, that all changed thanks to what Apple calls "An entirely new powerful and intuitive windowing system." In iPadOS 26 (yes, Apple decided to rename iPadOS 19), users can now easily switch between app windows and organize them like never before.
Apple's June 9 hosting of WWDC 2025 brought a whole heap of updates – with the focus entirely on software, with no rumoured iPhone 17 Air tease part of the show. The key take-away was the new Liquid Glass visual aesthetic, which will feature across the board.
As per Apple, iPadOS 26 will be available as a free software update for the following models: Registered Apple Developers can download the developer beta update starting today, with public beta availability starting next month.
Apple has once again built in some features into its operating systems that were previously available through third-party apps.
Apple announced iPadOS 26 at WWDC 2025, and the new iPad update comes with a fresh new look and plenty of features. Apple has ensured there are plenty of iPadOS 26 supported slates, so if you have a relatively new iPad you should get the update this year.
