The United States has vetoed a UN Security Council resolution calling for an “immediate, unconditional and permanent” ceasefire between Israel and the militant group Hamas in Gaza.

The US has vetoed the UN Security Council's draft resolution calling for an "unconditional and permanent" ceasefire in Gaza.The other 14 members voted in favour of the document, which also demanded the release of all hostages and the lifting of humanitarian aid restrictions.

The U.N. Security Council has scheduled a vote Wednesday on a resolution which demands “an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in Gaza respected by all parties.”
