President Donald Trump pledged he will still apply tariffs to phones, computers and popular consumer electronics, downplaying a weekend exemption as a procedural step in his overall push to remake US trade.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said on Sunday (April 13) that smartphones, computers and some other electronics, recently exempted from steep tariffs on imports from China, would face separate new duties along with semiconductors within the next two months.
