New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has called for criminal charges to be filed and arrests to be made after an autopsy report determined Black inmate Robert Brooks’ fatal beating at the hands of correctional officers in December to be a homicide.

An attorney representing Robert Brooks' family says the Onondaga Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death a homicide.

The death of Robert Brooks, a man from Greece who died after being fatally beaten by corrections officers at Marcy Correctional Facility on Dec. 9, has been ruled a homicide, according to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner.
