Strong storms rolled through Chicagoland on Saturday night into early Sunday morning, dropping heavy rain that triggered flash flooding in west suburban Cicero and whipping up strong winds that tore the roof off an apartment building in northwest suburban Mount Prospect.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms have led to multiple flooded intersections. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning.

Strong rain storms lashed the U.S. East Coast Thursday, delaying flights and prompting emergency rescues of motorists trapped in deep water on busy highways from the Philadelphia area to New York City.

On Saturday at 2:04 a.m. the National Weather Service issued an updated flash flood watch valid between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. for Oregon Lower Treasure Valley as well as Harney, Baker and Malheur counties.

Heavy thunderstorms and gushing rain pummeled parts of the Midwest and Plains over the weekend, triggering flash flooding that caused water rescues and canceled multiple events in the Milwaukee area.

Forecasters say some of the strong storm cells could generate rainfall rates of 1.5 to 2.5 inches per hour, which could result in rapid flooding on roads and near creeks or streams.

Raleigh faces hazardous weather with heavy rain and possible flash flooding, as a 70% chance of precipitation continues through the day, possibly impacting central North Carolina.

Heavy rainfall caused flash floods, road closures, and waterlogging in northern and eastern India. Himachal Pradesh faced severe disruption, with infrastructure damage and remote area access cut off.
