The Sackler family agreed to give up ownership of the company that manufactures the powerful opioid. A previous deal was rejected by the Supreme Court.

The deal comes after the Supreme Court blocked a controversial bankruptcy plan for Purdue that shielded Sackler family members from future lawsuits.

Connecticut and 14 other states on Thursday agreed to a new settlement deal with the Sackler family and Purdue Pharma that would secure $7.4 billion for communities across the United States that have been impacted by the opioid crisis.
