Suspect in deadly Palisades Fire to be moved to California from Florida after grand jury indictment
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A suspect in the Los Angeles area’s deadly Palisades Fire earlier this year was ordered to be moved to California on Thursday from central Florida, where he was arrested last week.
Jonathan Rinderknecht, a Central Florida man accused of starting the deadly Pacific Palisades Fire, has been extradited to California Thursday.
The fire that erupted on Jan. 7 killed 12 people and destroyed more than 6,000 homes and buildings in the Pacific Palisades, a wealthy coastal neighborhood of LA.
Federal authorities charged Jonathan Rinderknecht with maliciously starting the Palisades Fire, which may cause up to $164 billion in total losses.
Jonathan Rinderknecht, 29, is accused of igniting a fire on Jan. 1 in the Pacific Palisades that ultimately erupted into the Palisades Fire, the Department of Justice said.
