The New York City tolling plan, the first of its kind in the country, finally debuted after being halted just weeks before its original start date last summer. Officials started it on a Sunday to work out the kinks before rush hour traffic Monday morning.

New York City kicked off the first congestion pricing program in the US, part of an effort to reduce the number of vehicles in the world’s most traffic-clogged urban area while raising money for transit infrastructure.

The countdown to congestion pricing in New York City is almost over. Starting at midnight, most drivers will pay a toll to enter Manhattan south of 60th Street.
