“Serving as the 24th Presidentially Appointed U.S. Attorney for this incredible district has been the honor of a lifetime,” Alamdar S. Hamdani said in a written statement.

Alamdar Hamdani, who resigned as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas as of Jan. 19, joined the firm as a partner in the government enforcement and investigations practice.

It's been more than a year since Alamdar Hamdani left the security of a six-figure salary as a lawyer in a downtown firm to hang his own shingle and take his place among American business owners.

During a press conference on Thursday, Alamdar Hamdani, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas, said those charged could face 20 years to life in prison.

U.S. Attorney Alamdar Hamdani said 2.2 tons of fentanyl precursors were seized as part of the year-long investigation. Minsu Fang was charged in Webb County within the Southern District of Texas.

Alamdar Hamdani is a highly regarded trial lawyer who joined Bracewell following a 17-year career with the United States Department of Justice in which he held various leadership roles.
