A Walgreens is getting ready to close in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood. Neighbors want to get the vacant storefront filled quickly.

Walgreens is set to close five locations across Los Angeles and Orange counties in the coming weeks as the struggling retailer moves ahead with a downsizing that will see around 1,200 closures nationwide.

A Walgreens location in the South Shore is set to close to the disappointment of local residents.

A spokesperson said the company plans to "redeploy the majority of our team members from those stores that we close."

Walgreens will close stores in Hartford and New Haven, citing regulatory and reimbursement pressures impacting costs.

Walgreens will be closing two locations in Hartford and New Haven in mid-March, officials with Walgreens said. Officials with Walgreens cited the reason for the closing as “increased regulatory and reimbursement pressures” associated with their ability to cover cost,

Walgreens on Washington Street will close their doors soon. A few minutes away, so will CVS on Main Street. Now, those who have their medications filled at the locations are tasked with finding a new place to pick up their prescriptions.
