Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has caused uproar after backing Germany’s far-right party in a major newspaper ahead of key parliamentary elections in the Western European country, leading to the resignation of the paper’s opinion editor in protest.

In his opinion piece, Musk called the AfD "the last spark of hope" for Germany and argued in favor of the party's positions on energy, economic recovery and migration, saying they reflect "the principles that made Tesla and SpaceX successful," according to a Euronews translation.

In May, France’s far-right party led by Marine Le Pen split from the AfD in its European Parliament coalition after the German party’s top candidate, Maximilian Krah, said that a person was “not automatically a criminal” just because they had been a member of the SS, Adolph Hitler’s paramilitary organization.

The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has accused the owner of social media platform, X, Elon Musk of interfering in European politics, including the German election. The French president disclosed this in a speech to French ambassadors on Monday.

While Elon Musk continues to interfere in European politics, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, dismissed the CEO's scrutiny: "Don't feed the troll."
