Standing in their way is the NHL’s worst team, the Calgary Flames, who ride in on a seven-game winless streak (0-6-1). The visitors do have the benefit of being a more rested group, which Jets coach Scott Arniel said his squad will have to be wary of.
Gabriel Vilardi had a goal and assist, backup Eric Comrie made 30 saves and the Winnipeg Jets beat the Calgary Flames 5-3 on Friday night.
Vilardi (1-1—2) and Scheifele (0-2—2) had multiple points as the Jets improved to 6-1-0 in their last seven games.
The Winnipeg Jets (4-1) bring the NHL's No. 3 scoring offense (21 total goals) into a road matchup with the Calgary Flames (1-5), who have the league's 30th-ranked scoring defense (25 total goals against). The contest starts at 9:30 p.m. ET on Monday on ESPN+.
Jonathan Toews keeps proving his worth to the Winnipeg Jets. Not only did the future Hall-of-Famer score the goal that gave Winnipeg a lead that it never relinquished in a 5-3 victory over the desperate Calgary Flames on Friday, Toews won almost all of his faceoffs in a game where possession of the puck is so important.
WINNIPEG -- Josh Morrissey had three assists for the Winnipeg Jets, who handed the Calgary Flames their eighth straight loss with a 5-3 win at Canada Life Centre on Friday. “He was real good again tonight,” Winnipeg coach Scott Arniel said of Morrissey. “He played an awful lot of minutes (26:13) in back-to-back games, but he loves that."
