Commanders coach Dan Quinn said Saturday that wide receiver Terry McLaurin told him directly about his request to be traded amid a contract dispute but the coach has not addressed the matter with the other players as the team continues to prepare for the season.

Commanders coach Dan Quinn insisted the trade request made by his team’s star receiver, Terry McLaurin, is “part of normal business” in the NFL and is not a distraction to the team.

Last year, McLaurin was rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels ' favorite target in a revamped offense. McLaurin reeled in 82 of his 117 targets for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns, which were both career highs. That helped the Commanders go from 4-13 to 12-5 in just one year.
