The Russian River in Sonoma Couty reached moderate flood stage Wednesday and was expected to peak. People in low-lying areas were told to evacuate last night, but some residents have stayed put and are now stuck in their homes waiting for the water to subside.

An evacuation order was issued Tuesday evening for low-lying areas along the Russian River in Sonoma County as an atmospheric river coursed through the Bay Area. Issued by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office around 5:45 p.
