Two SWAT-team snipers shot 59-year-old Eric Kulakow during a residential standoff early on the afternoon of March 25, killing him at the scene, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The fire broke out about 6:45 a.m. Oct. 26, 2020, near Santiago and Silverado canyon roads and blackened about 12,466 acres.
