This isn’t the version of Kodai Senga that the Mets envisioned anchoring their rotation. That, partially, made them comfortable with not acquiring a starter at the trade deadline.

Senga was a non-factor in the Mets’ 12-6 win against the San Francisco Giants on Saturday. He allowed four runs, all earned, on five hits and three walks over four innings. After 71 pitches, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza had seen enough. In the fifth inning, he turned to his new-and-improved bullpen.
