Bruins strive to beat Sabres for second time this season
This week has been a tale of two games for the Boston Bruins. First-year coach Marco Sturm's team was embarrassed Monday in a 7-2 loss at the Ottawa Senators before overcoming a slow start the next night by scoring the final five goals to defeat the New York Islanders 5-2.
Two teams at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings hit the ice when the 15th-place Boston Bruins (5-7) host the 12th-place Buffalo Sabres (4-4-2) at TD Garden on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET. Boston claimed a 5-2 home victory against the New York Islanders in its last game on Oct. 28.
The Buffalo Sabres practiced on Wednesday before travelling to Boston for their second game against the Bruins this month on Thursday, and winger Jordan Greenway was a full participant and took a regular rotation in line rushes in his normal spot on the Sabres third line,
The Boston Bruins took care of business on home ice. They defeated the Buffalo Sabres for the second time this season in overtime to win 4-3. This was a game where the Bruins got outplayed, but they’ve managed to secure the two points.
Before the second intermission, after Mark Kastelic scored Boston’s third goal, chaos ensued on and off the ice. An extended scrum broke out with the 10 skaters, and Bowen Byram and Nikita Zadorov had a long talk from the ends of their benches.
