Three top-10 teams in The Associated Press college football poll lost. No. 9 Vanderbilt fell short in a 34-31 loss to No. 20 Texas, while No. 10 Miami lost 26-20 in overtime at SMU.
With the calendar flipping to November, we are two sleeps away from officially moving to the College Football Playoff portion of the season, and Week 10 AP Top 25 is going to be vital. Nearly half of the top 10 were on their bye weeks this Saturday.
Clemson began the season at No. 4 in the AP poll, and Florida State rose all the way to No. 7 amid a 3-0 start. At one point or another, both were expected to be among the top teams in the ACC and potentially even national championship contenders.
Six of the 20 active teams lost, with three such defeats coming to unranked teams. Both top 10 ACC teams were among that group.
