California is one of the nation’s bluest states, yet voters engaged in ticket-splitting and broke with the state's dominant Democratic Party.

The polls are closed in the Bay Area and California and rolls are starting to roll in for local and state races.

The Alameda County Registrar of Voters said it's way too soon to call the election results, as only 23% of the votes are in.
