Windows 11 is gradually gaining a more modern design for its UI and UX. However, many apps and aspects still lack such upgrades. As such, this unofficial app aims to modernize the Run dialog.

This suggests this UI has been dormant in Windows for at least 10 years but was never enabled in a wide release. This UI also exists in earlier builds of Windows 11, dating back to 2021.

Along with the UI change, Microsoft recently introduced Passkeys (which uses public-key cryptography for authentication) into its current preview of Windows Hello on Windows 11.
