When Kevin Loftus became one of the Capitol rioters granted a sweeping pardon by new US President Donald Trump, he walked out of the Philadelphia prison where he was being held and drove overnight to Washington without even stopping to change his clothes.

The newly sworn-in 47th president signed a document commuting 14 prison sentences and offering “a full, complete and unconditional pardon to all other individuals convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.”

President Trump is preparing to issue sweeping pardons for many charged in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack, including hundreds convicted of violent attacks, sources say.
