The Dodgers are asking fans to arrive early to the game against the Atlanta Braves scheduled for 5:38 PM PT in order to take home a piece of baseball history in miniature form.
In one corner, standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 210 pounds, is Shohei Ohtani, hitter, pitcher and three-time unanimous MVP. In the other corner, standing 5-10 and weighing 175 pounds when fully nourished, is Mookie Betts, outfielder, infielder and one-time MVP.
Shohei Ohtani has another win to add to his stockpile. After winning the World Series and his third league MVP award, the Los Angeles Dodgers star now has the world’s most popular Major League Baseball jersey.
Ohtani was named the National League's Most Valuable Player as a designated hitter in his first season with the Dodgers. He had a .310 batting average with 197 hits, 54 home runs, 130 RBIs and 134 runs scored in 159 games played. He also won his third Sliver Slugger award.
Ohtani, who had his second Tommy John surgery in 2023, appeared to be progressing towards a return to the mound during Spring Training before facing a setback. The three-time MVP began to ramp back up as he had his first bullpen session in over a month on Saturday.
