Almost 96 percent of new cars registered in Norway in January were electric, an unparalled number in the world and close to the country's goal of selling only zero-emission vehicles as of this year.

Last month, 95.8% of the 9,343 vehicles registered in the country were battery-powered. Among the 50 best-selling models, only two had combustion engines. Four years ago, Norway became the first country in the world where sales of pure electric cars surpassed combustion ones.
