Last year's Capitol Christmas tree was an 80-foot Sitka spruce harvested in Alaska's Tongass National Forest. In 2023, a 63-foot Norway spruce was harvested from Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia. The last time the tree came from the Sierra Nevada was in 2011, when a 65-foot Sierra white fir was harvested from Stanislaus National Forest.
