Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano took issue with Major League Soccer's decision to suspend both Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba for Saturday's match against FC Cincinnati after the pair sat out the MLS All-Star Game without getting prior approval to do so.

Although Andy Najar, Sam Surridge and Hany Mukhtar all started after taking part in the MLS All-Star festivities midweek, none were able to drive the attack in their usual fashion with Surridge exiting the game in the 72nd minute after having just a single shot.

Major League Soccer announced Friday that Inter Miami stars Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba will be suspended for the team’s next match against FC Cincinnati on Saturday.
