Hundreds of demonstrators were marching the streets of Los Angeles on the same day as a nationwide movement protesting President Donald Trump's plans for mass deportations.

As demonstrations in the “Day Without Immigrants” protests in downtown Los Angeles continued into the evening, tensions between protesters and police appeared to increase with authorities issuing an unlawful assembly and dispersal order Monday evening.

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in downtown Los Angeles Monday, continuing protests for a second day against President Donald Trump’s immigration policies as part of a coordinated series of actions dubbed “A Day Without Immigrants.

A large crowd gathered in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday in response to the recent increase in ICE raids and deportations. The protest initially began on Olvera Street, but grew to a few thousand people who marched to City Hall before walking onto the 101 Freeway.

LA protesters gathered near City Hall, while in those in Santa Ana converged near the federal courthouse. The demonstrations were smaller than Sunday’s, which drew thousands.
