Red Sox infielder Marcelo Mayer reacts to his unfortunate injury with an uncertain timetable set for his return.

For the time being it appears that the Red Sox are going to lean heavily on Ceddanne Rafaela to man the position in Mayer’s absence. The Red Sox also called up David Hamilton to provide another option at second, but it’s clear that the majority of the playing time will go to Rafaela.
