The Nittany Lions (9-0) scored four technicals, including the 11th this season by top-ranked Mitchell Mesenbrink (165 pounds). Redshirt freshman Josh Barr (197) produced the signature win, scoring seven (!) takedowns in the third period for a 22-6 win. Barr scored six more takedowns in the third than Rutgers (one) did the entire match.

A win over Shawver would be a season-builder for Davis, the Penn State sophomore. Davis last week gave up an early seven-point move to Nebraska’s Jacob Van Dee and lost 14-7. Shawver won 27 bouts last season en route to his B1G title and seventh-place NCAA finish.

Penn State wrestling won nine of 10 bouts and earned four technical falls en route to a 35-3 win over Rutgers on Friday night at Jersey Mike’s Arena in Piscataway, N.J. It marked the Nittany Lions’ 65th consecutive dual meet victory,
