John Calipari has been here before; just not recently. But every win could move focus away from the past and toward his future with the Razorbacks.

Calipari coached No. 10 Arkansas to a 79-72 victory over Bill Self and No. 7 Kansas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament here at the AMP Thursday night. Former Camden High School star DJ Wagner scored 14 points with 6 assists and 3 rebounds as Arkansas won for the fourth time in its last five games.

Johnell Davis’ 3-pointer with 1:43 to go was the biggest shot, pushing the difference to four as part of an 11-2 burst. Jonas Aidoo led the Razorbacks with 22 points and Davis added 18, including two free throws with 10.4 seconds to go that iced the victory.
