The impacts of the government shutdown are starting to ramp up in the skies, with hundreds of flight cancellations on Friday due to air traffic control staffing reductions.

The FAA confirmed that the temporary limits affected about 4% of flights nationwide, including 27 destinations served by JAX.

While Jacksonville International Airport is not on the list of 40 airports affected by the 10% reduction, a trickledown is expected because of reductions at important hubs like Atlanta, Houston and Miami.
