President Donald Trump promised in his Inauguration Day speech that “the golden age of America begins right now.” But he and top aides are now tempering that message as worries mount that the economy is hitting a rough patch and perhaps heading for a recession.

There is a revival happening across our nation — an awakening to the values that built America: faith, family, hard work and patriotism. These four things are not just bullets or talking points, I truly believe they have helped shape our country.

If tariffs evolve from a negotiating tactic to a new normal, economic and diplomatic costs to all of North America will grow.
