KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police in Kansas City, Missouri, launched a homicide investigation following a shooting early Sunday night. Police were called around 7:30 p.m. Sunday on a reported shooting at 18th and Prospect. A police spokesperson was planning to respond to the scene near 18th and Benton.

Police are investigating a homicide after a shooting Sunday night near 18th Street and Prospect Avenue. Officers responded to the area shortly after 7:18 p.m. and found a male victim who had been shot. No suspect information was immediately available.

The body of a drowning victim was located and recovered Sunday afternoon by the Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 23-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man died after he drowned Saturday night at Smithville Lake. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the man was swimming around 9:15 p.m. Saturday in Smithville Lake near the Route W Bridge when he went under the water.

Swaths of heavy rainfall are expected with the next round of storms in the Kansas City area. There might be pockets of more than 6 inches. A tornado is also possible.
