BMW's next generation of EVs, known as the Neue Klasse, will have a boosted visual display. At a CES press conference in Las Vegas Tuesday morning, the German carmaker announced the BMW Panoramic iDrive — a complete overhaul of the current iDrive infotainment system from the operating system to the display screen.

The terminology, in typical Germanic fashion, is a little confusing. The entire system is called "Panoramic iDrive," with “Panoramic Vision” being the funky horizontal band display across the whole dash; meanwhile, the all-new software the whole enchilada runs on is named “BMW Operating System X.”

I hate cars that don’t have buttons, but BMW’s new Panoramic iDrive system looks so sleek, intuitive and personal that I might be willing to ditch them altogether.
