A pilot flying a Delta Air Lines regional jet on Friday apologized to his passengers after making a hard turn to avoid colliding with a US Air Force B-52 bomber, audio from the incident shows.
MINOT, N.D. – Passengers on a Delta Airlines flight operated by SkyWest got a scare after a near miss with a B-52 near Minot Friday. The pilot of the flight from Minneapolis to Minot apologized to passengers for what he called an aggressive maneuver. He says he was cleared to land when he noticed the B-52 and had to take action.
A crew conducting a ceremonial B-52 flyover at the North Dakota State Fair Friday was not advised of an inbound commercial aircraft, according to a statement from base public affairs.
