A new class action lawsuit alleges a woman who wants to terminate her pregnancy cannot get the care she needs in Kentucky.

The suit, filed in state court in Louisville, claims that Kentucky laws blocking abortions violate the plaintiff’s constitutional rights to privacy and self-determination.

A Kentucky woman who wants an abortion filed a lawsuit Tuesday to strike down the state’s near-total ban. The lawsuit alleges the woman, referred to as Mary Poe, is about seven weeks pregnant and is suffering severe harms because the government has denied her access to the care she needs.

A pregnant woman who wants an abortion is suing in to challenge Kentucky laws banning the procedure, the American Civil Liberties Union announced Tuesday.
