South African ambassador to the United States Ebrahim Rasool, who was expelled from the country and labeled persona non grata by the Trump administration, arrived home on Sunday to a warm welcome,

Secretary of State Marco Rubio declared Friday evening on social media that South Africa’s ambassador to the U.S. was barred from entering the country. Rubio shared reporting from the far-right media outlet Breitbart News comments by Ambassador Embrahim Rasool linking President Donald Trump to White supremacy.

The South African ambassador who was expelled from the United States and declared persona non grata by the Trump administration has been welcomed home at an airport by hundreds of supporters who sang songs praising him.
