Michael Parker named suspect in Lorain ambush shooting that killed 1 officer, injured 2 others
The suspect — Michael Parker, 28, of Lorain — was pronounced dead at the scene after the shooting. According to the Elyria Police Department, officers returned fire during the exchange, which ultimately resulted in Parker sustaining a fatal injury.
Lorain County Sheriff’s Office Maj. A.J. Torres also confirmed to WJW that authorities found explosives in the suspect’s car at the scene of the ambush. Suspicious items were also found and removed from the suspect’s home on North Lakeview Boulevard, officials confirmed Wednesday night.
Officer Phillip Wagner of Lorain PD died after an ambush, leaving behind a family. He'll receive a funeral with military honors.
Bradley said he received a call from Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, giving his "100% support" and offering whatever help he could provide to the Lorain Police Department. Bradley added that the office of U.S. Sen. Jon Husted had also sent a message pledging to give whatever help or assistance they could provide.
