When students prompt the ChatGPT with a question, OpenAI’s chatbot will respond with guiding questions and hints intended to lead them toward a solution.

(TNND) — ChatGPT announced a new study mode feature for students. Instead of spelling out straight answers to prompts, the artificial intelligence will write out answers step by step. Free access users will also be able to operate in study mode.

In building Study Mode, OpenAI said it was inspired by "power users" who were already trying to adapt ChatGPT into a personal tutor or test prep tool via specific sets of prompts. Through Study Mode, OpenAI says it hopes to give less technically minded users the ability to access "a personal tutor that never gets tired of their questions."
