Wonderful experience! No frost, snow, or ice, so 2 wheel drive was fine up to ski lift. Rangers helpful. Beautiful vistas. Took lots of photos!Full review by K A

Do you want to simply see snow or actually walk through snow? Because those are two completely separate things in this case. You can see snow from almost anywhere you hike along this road, as the tallest mountains are snowcapped. Potato Mountain is a very dog-friendly trail, but you will only see snow on the mountains. Sunset Peak and Stoddard peak have been known to have snow as they are both above 5000 feet, but didn't have any when I did them on 12/12 and 12/13. But you could certainly see snow on the surrounding mountains. The only place I encountered snow was doing Bear Flats from Bear Canyon Road and then going a few miles beyond the flats until I hit about 7500 feet. But it's quite strenuous and if you're just looking for a walk with your dog, it might be too much. If you want a better chance of hitting snow, you might want to start with a trail further up the road, such as Ice House Canyon.

I hiked part way up this past Tuesday, December 11. Started from Bear Canyon road. We didn't hit snow until about 7500 feet, which is where were turned around. Above that, yes, it is definitely snowcapped, which can be seen from the bottom as well.
