Those of us who have lived in Denver for decades are still excited to get out of the city to one of the parks for a picnic or hike. Full review by john m

Lack development, at least in the last 100 years. It's kind of like a random spot in the front range. They need daome sort of development/improvements to make them worth going too. Full review by W8401OPluked

Wanting to do a light hike and see some red rocks end of February! Any tips on where to go/ get dropped off if we were to Lyft there? Any non-tour guide bus options to get dropped off and picked up?

I am looking for a day trip, flying into Denver this weekend or next. Looking for a park for some light hiking (elders in my party) and soaking in the foliage. I read this post and there are so many park. Is there two or three you strongly recommend? thanks.
I am taking my family to Colorado for full 8 days and like to know how should I plan the trip. We all like to hike, mountain, water, city life etc. Thanks in advance.

If you are going to Denver start at the Four Mile Historic Post (2 hour time), then go Downtown to Colorado history museum. Visit Rocky Mountain National park, lots of trails there (full day+). Head towards Aspen through Independence Pass, stop at the top (12,095 feet Continental Divide) & visit Maroon Bells. The drive to and from is awesome with breathtaking views. Maroon Bells has several hiking trails. I wish I had spent longer there and got their earlier. Downtown Aspen has a must see gallery from Peter Lik (famous photographer). In Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods is an awesome place & you can see Pike's Peak in the distance. Visit Manitou Springs for lunch. Always check the road conditions prior to any mountain visit. This will be a trip your family will not forget. My daughter lives there & this would be my suggestion. Gives you an all around experience of the beautiful mountain range. Enjoy!
